“You’re allowed to rob a store as long as it’s not more that $950. Has anyone every heard of this? You’ve got thieves going into stores with calculators calculating how it is because if it’s less than $950 they can rob it and not get charged. That was her that did that.” – Trump, today at his New Jersey resort. As CNN’s Daniel Dale immediately noted, in 2014 California voters approved a ballot measure raising the felony charge for shoplifting to thefts totaling over $950. As then-California attorney general, Kamala Harris was barred from publicly commenting on proposed ballot measures. Of note, the felony theft limit in Texas is $2500.
Trump claims there’s a law in California that says you can rob stores as long as you don’t rob more than $950 worth of stuff. Don’t try that home! pic.twitter.com/sI5GPwQAap

This is insanity. Trump claims crooks can rob stores in California as long as they get less than $950, cuz of Harris. Then CNN puts up factchecker to say shoplifting is still illegal in California. So Trump: Sky is red. Actual media pro: Nope: Sky is blue. WTF are we doing here?

Oh shap! Per Trump shoplifters are using calculators while shoplifting so they stay below the shoplifting lifting cap. pic.twitter.com/itI2DtSLH1
