The Alligator first reported Monday that Sasse, a former Nebraska Republican senator, more than tripled spending under the president’s office compared to his predecessor. A majority of the surge in spending was driven by lucrative consulting contracts and high-paid, remote positions for Sasse’s GOP allies.
DeSantis spokesperson Bryan Griffin told the Alligator the governor’s office “take[s] the stewardship of state funds very seriously and have already been in discussions with leadership at the university and with the Board of Governors to look into the matter.”

My first report on this unfolding scandal is here.
Reports of @UF‘s exorbitant spending by Ben Sasse’s office are concerning. As my agency can investigate fraud, waste and abuse, @FLDFS will reach out to @FLBOG to offer auditing support. BOG should investigate this issue to ensure tuition and tax dollars are being properly used.

A Republican politician accused of fraud for fleecing a state is going to be investigated by the office of the republican that gave him the job? Not hard to know how this will end.
