Pelosi Hails Biden’s Accomplishments In DNC Speech

The Associated Press reports:

Nancy Pelosi opened her convention speech with a sense of gratitude for President Joe Biden, even after her doubts about his campaign fed into the pressures that led him to end his reelection effort.

“Thank you, Joe,” Pelosi said after going through Biden’s legislative achievements. Then the former House speaker added, “I know that Vice President Harris is ready to take us to new heights.”

It was a moment that sidestepped the challenging conversation that led to Harris becoming the Democratic nominee, a dramatic act that catalyzed a sense of excitement and optimism in the party about its chances against Republican Donald Trump.

Deadline reports:

As she praised one president, Pelosi unsurprisingly roundly condemned another. “January 6 was a perilous moment for our democracy,” she said of her despised former foil Donald Trump. “Never before had a president of the United States so brazenly assaulted the bedrock of our democracy so lethally embraced political violence so willfully betrayed his oath of office,” Pelosi told her fellow Democrats of the attack on Congress that found many MAGA insurgents directly looking to attack her.

Fox News declined to air Pelosi’s speech. Instead, Laura Ingraham mockingly said, “I know you’re missing Nancy Pelosi right now. We’re very sad about that.”
