One Million Moms Vs “Offensive, Destructive” Amazon

Via press release from hate group leader Monica Cole:

Amazon offends conservative parents in one of its newest back-to-school commercials. One Million Moms has received many complaints regarding the “Amazon Back to School – Spend Less on your Kids with Michelle Buteau” ad.

The company attempts to encourage parents to spend less on their kids, but the advertisement takes an unnecessary and inappropriate turn.

At the end of the commercial, a child says, “What the fudge?” This is insinuated profanity, but viewers understand exactly what was implied.

This type of advertising is entirely unnecessary, especially dealing with marketing for children and back-to-school.

Everyone knows children repeat what they hear, particularly when a young person is the one speaking in the ad. Typically, young actors attract young viewers.

What’s worse, Amazon’s advertisements air during primetime when families are most likely to be watching. How damaging and destructive to children! Amazon should be more responsible in its marketing decisions.

Amazon has deliberately decided to produce controversial advertisements instead of wholesome ones. 1MM finds this highly inappropriate.

Others likely find this ad offensive too, which is probably why Amazon has turned off the comments section of this ad on YouTube.

Let Amazon know that, as a parent and a consumer, you are disgusted by its recent marketing choices. Amazon needs to know parents disapprove!

TAKE ACTION: If you agree this marketing campaign is inappropriate, please sign our petition urging Amazon to cancel this commercial immediately.

From the petition:

I am highly offended by your current back-to-school marketing campaign. It is irresponsible to use insinuated profanity in advertisements. Everyone knows children repeat what they hear. I urge Amazon to cancel this commercial that includes the phrase “What the fudge?” immediately. Until you clean up your ads, I cannot purchase your products in good conscience.

By my count, this is the ninth time so far this year that Monica has ranted about implied profanity in advertising. Curiously, she has remained silent on school shootings. And perhaps obviously, Amazon is probably the most boycott-proof company on the planet. It’s a cute commercial, too.
