USA Today reports:
Vice President Kamala Harris holds a seven-point lead over former President Donald Trump in the upcoming presidential election, according to a new poll by Fairleigh Dickinson University.
The poll, conducted from Aug. 17 to Aug. 20, shows Harris leading Trump 50% to 43% among likely voters, with 7% of respondents supporting another candidate. According to the survey, among voters who were not primed to think about race or gender, Harris and Trump were nearly tied, with Trump slightly ahead at 48% to Harris’ 47%.
However, when the race of the candidates was made salient, Harris’ lead expanded to 53% over Trump’s 39%. Mentioning gender also boosted Harris, increasing her support to 52% compared to Trump’s 42%.
