MI GOP Ejects Its QAnon Ex-Chair From Convention

The Detroit News reports:

Former Michigan Republican Party Chairwoman Kristina Karamo was escorted out of the state GOP’s convention on Saturday by police, as the gathering of delegates got off to a raucous start inside the Dort Financial Center in Flint.

At about noon, another individual, whom The Detroit News couldn’t immediately identify, was taken out of the arena by a group of police with his arms bound behind his back, after security said he was yelling at people around him in the crowd.

As for Karamo, she showed up on the convention floor at about 11 a.m., but the party said she wasn’t a registered delegate from her home county of Oakland. She was surrounded by her supporters with security officials attempting to talk to her.

The Detroit Free Press reports:

Karamo, who was ousted by party dissidents in January after less than a year in office, showed up at the Dort Financial Center and was soon escorted out of the building by security and local police. “Corruption,” Karamo said as she exited.

Former ambassador and congressman Pete Hoekstra, who was elected to replace Karamo two weeks after the vote to remove her and who has since worked to improve the party’s shaky finances, was greeted with scattered but loud boos when he took the stage to address the convention.

Karamo was not elected as a delegate to the convention but was granted an “all access pass” in error, Hoekstra said, before she walked onto the convention floor and was surrounded by a group of supporters.

Bridge Michigan reports:

Hoekstra has led the party for more than seven months, since Karamo was ousted by a faction of the party who soon after elected Hoekstra to succeed her. But the party again came face-to-face with that recent turmoil when Karamo, who was backing candidate Alexandria Taylor for state Supreme Court, appeared on the convention floor Saturday morning surrounded by supporters.

They formed a tight ring around her and initially prevented security from getting close. “She was offered a guest credential. She refused. She was asked to take a seat, she refused. She was asked to politely leave, but refused,” Michigan GOP executive director Tyson Sheppard said. “Law enforcement was called and escorted her out of the building for causing a disruption and clogging up the floor.”

Karamo, a rabid QAnon nutbag, has claimed that demonic possession is real and that it can be “sexually transmitted.” She has also declared that Beyonce, Cardi B, Billie Eilish, and other pop stars are controlled by Satan. Karomo is the second former chairperson of the Michigan GOP to make headlines this weekend.
