Jersey City Mayor Fires Brother Of Anti-Gay Extremist

The Jersey City Times reports:

Capping a day of fast moving events, Mayor Steven Fulop has fired an aide who donated to his sister’s anti-LGBTQ campaign for Missouri Secretary of State. In a tweet on X directed at the sister, Valentina Gomez, Fulop said “as of tomorrow he no longer works there bc he doesn’t reflect the values of the city.”

The contributions to Valentina Gomez’s campaign by her brother, Jonathan Gomez, an aide to Fulop, were first reported by The Jersey City Times on Friday. Fulop’s tweet appears to have been a response to Valentina Gomez who, in her own earlier tweet, threatened the mayor with a “Huge lawsuit incoming” for his treatment of her brother.

In a video, she plays back a portion of a recorded phone call between the mayor and Jonathan in which the mayor appears to demand a clear disavowal of Valentina Gomez’s views.

The Hudson County View reports:

Jonathan Gomez Noriega resigned from the Jersey City LGBTQ+ Task Force Monday after Hudson Pride Center Executive Director Liz Schedl and two of her colleagues left in response to him donating to his sister’s campaign, as HCV first reported.

Becoming an aide to Fulop in February 2022, according to his LinkedIn page, Gomez Noriega released a statement on X yesterday, but did not denounce his sister’s candidacy, which has gained national attention for using homophobic slurs like “f*****.”

Evidently, Fulop was not impressed, and in a reply to Gomez that has reached nearly four million accounts as of this writing, said that her brother’s tenure with the city is over.

Fulop is running for New Jersey governor.

In the replies to his tweet about firing Gomez Noriega, who donated $1250 to his sister’s campaign, dozens of prominent cultists have vowed to donate to Valentina Gomez’s promised lawsuit.

As I reported earlier today, Valentina Gomez was utterly humiliated in her bid for Missouri secretary of state, finishing sixth in the GOP primary with fewer than 1000 votes. But she has become a folk hero to the cult.
