Pensacola’s CBS affiliate reports:
The now-former principal of a private school in Holmes County has been arrested and faces sex charges in connection with inappropriate relations involving a student.
According to the Washington County Sheriff’s Office and county court filings, law enforcement officials received an initial case assignment on May 30 regarding alleged sexual misconduct between a juvenile and 28-year-old Aaron Michael McFatter of Chipley.
McFatter previously served as principal of Grace Fellowship Christian Academy (GFCA), a private Christian school in Bonifay, during the 2023-24 school year. He also served as the youth pastor of Grace Fellowship Christian Church.
McClatchy reports:
Beginning in December 2023, McFatter, who was also a worship pastor, and a student at his school began messaging over Snapchat and WhatsApp, the teen told investigators. They started calling and sending photos as the conversations “progressed into more flirting and inappropriate communication,” deputies reported in an arrest affidavit.
The pastor complained about his marital problems and said he was going to get divorced, but by the time the proceedings were over “they could be together,” investigators said.
Records show McFatter’s wife filed for divorce in May, only two weeks before deputies said they began investigating the criminal case. McFatter is accused of having “unlawful physical and sexual contact” with the teen in April.
McFatter has been released on a $50,000 bond.
