Ever since Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) was passed over to be former President Donald Trump’s running mate, people at the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee have been gossiping about what his future might hold. For many, especially from Florida, the idea that he’d make a strong candidate for secretary of State in a future Trump administration is treated as a no-brainer. Asked about it directly on Thursday, Rubio didn’t rule it out.
“We’ll see,” he said. “We’ve got to win first, and then we’ll see what the world looks like at that point. If I’ve learned anything over the last few years, is — I don’t really think too far ahead anymore, because things change very quickly and dynamics change very quickly.” Rubio also confirmed that the main hurdle he and Trump couldn’t overcome regarding the GOP ticket was the fact that they were both from the same state.
