Van Orden is best known here for an allegedly drunken and vulgar tirade at teenage interns taking photos in the US Capitol.
Before his election in 2022, Van Orden attended Trump’s “Stop The Steal” rally and was present during the assault on the US Capitol.
In 2021, Van Orden was sentenced to one year of probation for attempting to take a loaded handgun through a TSA checkpoint at the Cedar Rapids airport.
Also in 2021, Van Orden created a “screaming scene” and threatened a teenage employee at an Wisconsin public library over a display of LGBTQ-themed books.
