GOP Rep: House Will Soon Vote On Arresting Garland

“Several months ago, I introduced a resolution for something called Inherent Contempt of Congress. This is something that Congress has the authority to do, and it hasn’t been done since the early 1900’s.

“I anticipated that the Department of Justice would not do their job. And so I had this teed up and ready to go. I’ve brought this to Speaker Johnson’s attention.

“And what that allows Congress to do is really be the punitive arm and really hold Garland accountable by using the Sergeant at Arms to essentially go and get him as well as the tapes and bring him to the well of the house and really be a check-and-balance on the Department of Justice.

“Again, this hasn’t been done since the early 1900s. But that vote will be coming to the floor and hopefully we will be able to bring some accountability.” – Rep. Anna Paulina Luna, speaking to Fox News.

My first report on Luna’s plan is here.

Luna appeared here last month when she authored a bill that would award Trump the Congressional Gold Medal.

She appeared here in February 2024 when she introduced a bill that would force members of Congress who voted for aid to Ukraine to serve in the war.

Luna, a freshman, was elected after DeSantis personally redrew her district to make it more red.

A former staffer for Charlie Kirk’s Turning Point USA, in 2020 Luna failed to unseat Rep. Charlie Crist.

In 2022, Luna claimed that her Republican primary rivals had plotted to have her murdered.

In May 2023, Luna declared in a House floor speech that “humanitarian aid for women and children in Afghanistan” is illegal because it is not mentioned in the Constitution.

Also last year, the Washington Post reported that Luna had invented her hardscrabble backstory, including claims that her father spent time in prison and that she’d been a victim of a home invasion.
