MO Sec Of State Candidate Hit With Cease-And-Desist Notice By Sony Over Music In “Weak And Gay” Video

Sony has sent a cease and desist letter to Missouri GOP Secretary of State candidate Valentina Gomez for using one of their songs in her homophobic campaign video. Gomez has been posting homophobic videos including one burning LGBTQ library books and others repeating “don’t be weak and gay.”

In their cease and desist letter, David Przygoda, Sony’s Vice President of Litigation, noted that Sony administers the copyright to “the well-known musical composition entitled ‘The Show Must Go On,’ which was recorded by Lupe Fiasco and released in 2010” and asked Gomez to stop using and distributing the video.

In her now-deleted original tweet, which got millions of views, Gomez had tagged accused rapist Andrew Tate, who has become a folk hero to the far-right. Gomez is also being called out by a sunglasses outfit for wearing their shades. Oh, and she’s claiming to have cancelled her “Patriots Run” due to threats.
