Libertarian Party Nominates Gay Man For President

Axios reports:

The Libertarian Party announced Sunday night that its delegates chose former Georgia US Senate candidate Chase Oliver as its presidential nominee, after he saw off former President Trump and Robert F. Kennedy Jr. Third party candidates have been largely unsuccessful in modern times and the Libertarians’ 2020 candidate received 1.2% of the national vote, but AP notes there’s been renewed interest in the party this year as President Biden and Trump face off in a race that could be decided by a small number of votes in key swing states.

Politico reports:

Oliver has described himself as “armed and gay” and his third-party candidacy helped force a runoff in the Georgia Senate race in 2022. He garnered just more than 2 percent of the vote, forcing a runoff election between Sen. Raphael Warnock (D-Ga.) and Republican Hercshel Walker. In 2020, he was a congressional candidate in the state’s 5th district, also earning about 2 percent support. As a presidential contender, Oliver focused his pitch to Libertarians on his effort to build the party nationwide. He said he has made campaign stops in all 50 states and has 500 volunteers.

Cultists are pouring into the replies of Oliver’s tweet below in their usual fashion.
