Republican candidate for president Chris Christie is expected to announce that he is exiting the race later today, per a report from journalist Mark Halperin.
Halperin says that Christie will make the announcement Wednesday at 5pm PT in New Hampshire and has decided to not yet make an endorsement.
Christie has become the one figure in the Republican primaries willing to directly confront the threat of Donald Trump, though his principled position never gained the favor of Republican voters.
