Johnson: Trump’s Hitleresque Language “Isn’t Hateful”

House Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La., walked a fine line between criticizing and defending language by former President Donald Trump attacking immigrants for “poisoning the blood” of the nation.

Johnson, who prides himself on being a devout Christian, told “Face the Nation” news host Margaret Brennan on CBS in an interview Sunday that Trump’s invective is not “language he would use.”

“But I understand the urgency of President Trump’s admonition,” Johnson added, noting that he believes the “vast majority” of Americans “agree with his position.” It’s “not hateful,” he insisted.
