Attorneys for Donald Trump responded in a fiery court filing Wednesday night to Special Counsel Jack Smith’s request for a federal judge to approve jury selection steps in the Florida classified documents case against the former president.
In the six-page filing, Trump’s attorneys said the request by Smith’s office for U.S. District Judge Aileen Cannon to authorize the preparation of written jury questionnaires ahead of next year’s scheduled trial was “premature.”
“Moreover, in addition to wasting the Court’s resources, this type of litigation detracts from the defendants’ efforts to review voluminous discovery and prepare motions that are crucial to the defense,” Trump’s legal team wrote.
