Court Records Released In Florida GOP And Moms For Liberty Scandal, Both Admit To Three-Way Relationship

Tampa’s ABC affiliate reports:

Ziegler and his wife — Sarasota School Board Member Bridget Ziegler who helped found Moms of Liberty — had made plans to have sex with the woman two days before, according to the affidavit. But when Ziegler’s wife could not make it at last minute, the other woman canceled responding in text message, “Sorry I was mostly in for her.”

But just five minutes later, when the woman opened her front door to go take her dog, she found Ziegler in the hallway outside her apartment. “Christian entered the apartment, bent the victim over the bar stool” and raped her, Det. Angela Cox wrote in the affidavit.

The victim told detectives that Ziegler didn’t wear a condom and told her, “I’m leaving the same way I came in.” Video surveillance footage from the victim’s apartment complex captured Ziegler arriving in his gray Ford truck on Oct. 2, capturing his license plate number when he arrived at 2:29 pm. that day, according to the affidavit.

The Orlando Sentinel reports:

Ziegler told detectives in an interview with his attorney present he had consensual sex with the woman and took video of it, initially deleting it but then uploading it to his Google Drive since the allegation, according to the affidavit. Police said in the affidavit that they have not located the footage.

Bridget Ziegler told detectives she was involved in a sexual encounter with her husband and the woman once over a year ago, the affidavit states.

Bridget Ziegler, a co-founder of the conservative education group Moms for Liberty, serves on the board of DeSantis’ Disney World oversight district and also is a member of the Sarasota County School Board.

The Daily Beast reports:

Paulina Testerman, a co-founder of the nonprofit Support Our Schools, which defends public education, told The Daily Beast that she hoped the Zieglers’ hold over the county was coming to an end.

“Many of us have stood at the podium of countless school board meetings and listened to Mrs. Ziegler drag the LGBT+ community, so it’s natural to want to celebrate when bullies get what’s coming,” Testerman said.

“But we must remind ourselves that there are many victims in this story. An alleged rape victim is the obvious victim, but our LGBT children and all marginalized children have all been the victim of the Zieglers and their hate machine. We are hopeful that their reign is over, and our community can start healing.”
