Christian School Teacher Arrested On Child Sex Charges

Charlotte’s CBS affiliate reports:

Cornelius Police stated that on Aug. 2, 2023, they began investigating the alleged inappropriate relationship between a student and teacher at Southlake Christian Academy. Officials state that after the investigation, they were able to obtain warrants on Tyler Melton, 26, for felony sex acts with a student and indecent liberties with a student. Melton turned himself into the Mecklenburg County Jail and is being held on a $10K unsecured bond.

Obviously, we are deeply disappointed by these events. We take with utmost seriousness the well-being of our students. All employees go through an extensive vetting process and comprehensive background check. We train our teachers on appropriate boundaries with students and expect them to uphold those standards on and off campus.
