“MAGA Caravan Pastor” Rioter Sentenced To Five Years

The Associated Press reports:

An Ohio man who repeatedly attacked police officers as he joined a mob of Donald Trump supporters in storming the U.S. Capitol was sentenced on Thursday to nearly five years in prison.

Kenneth Joseph Owen Thomas has acted as a “one-man misinformation machine” since the Jan. 6, 2021, riot, using his social media platforms to spread false narratives about the attack, according to federal prosecutors. They say Thomas produces more than 20 hours of Jan. 6-related online content every week.

“The primary message Thomas attempts to convey throughout all of his appearances is ‘Jan 6th was a Setup,’ words that are emblazoned front and center on the landing page for the website and ‘brand’ he created after his arrest,” prosecutors wrote in a court filing.

The New York Times reports:

“Not only does Thomas attempt to minimize and, in some cases, aggrandize, his conduct on Jan. 6,” prosecutors said, “he has belittled the experience of those he assaulted.”

In court documents, prosecutors said that Mr. Thomas had told his wife and daughter to stay behind before he entered the Capitol grounds, joined a violent mob that gathered on the Upper West Terrace and encouraged the group to “hold the line.”

He harassed the police, prosecutors said, shouting, “This is our house,” and “Traitors, traitors, traitors.” Around 3:30 p.m., Mr. Thomas ran up the steps toward police officers and then “punched and/or violently pushed his fists directly into” an officer’s chest, according to court documents.

K. Joseph Thomas is an independant Christian minister and a happily married father of 4 children. He was arrested in May 2021 and initially given 6 charges surrounding his presence at the Capitol on January 6th. In August, he received 10 federal charges on his official indictment.

After rejecting a plea deal the government threw 2 more charges at him totaling 12 (7 felonies, 5 misdemeanors). At the Capitol, he did not enter the building, promoted no violence, aided the wounded & protected the defenseless. He did not attack anyone or destroy anything.

Because “Pi Anon” has a patriotic heart, he started a campaign to support the political prisoners in DC who sing the national anthem together (every night at 9p EST) from their cells. He sings the anthem & posts the videos across social media & would like to see everyone join him and #Sing4Freedom nightly in solidarity.

He has pushed this campaign onto the national stage in hopes of bringing awareness to the harsh treatment American citizens are receiving, without trial or conviction, because of their presence at the Capitol that day. He also created Sing4freedom.us for this purpose.
