In a series of early morning tweets, retiring congressman and long-shot presidential candidate, Dean Phillips, articulated his thoughts on the 2024 election.
He said while he was a staunch supporter of the Biden agenda and respects the president, he thinks the level of government missteps is “staggering” and that its “delusional” to believe that Joe Biden could beat Donald Trump again.
“He’s going to lose to Trump,” Phillips wrote to X, citing a recent Politico analysis of Biden’s worrisome poll numbers. Once a fervent Biden fanboy, Phillips has become the only elected Democrat to mount a primary challenge against him.

Instead of running against Biden, why not campaign for him? Fight against the propaganda and lies about President Biden. Did you ask your constituents if they even supported your idea to run against the Democratic incumbent?

I campaigned hard for him in ‘20 when he was the only candidate who could beat Trump – as the polls indicated.
And now he’s going to lose to Trump.
But if Democrats decide after a spirited primary that he’s the best chance, I’ll work my tail off for him or the eventual nominee.

As a member of House Democratic Leadership, I supported and promoted the Biden agenda.
I campaigned for him, voted for him, and respect him.
But how can anyone read this and conclude he’s positioned to defeat Donald Trump?
