The Messenger reports:
Arizona Governor Katie Hobbs endorsed an abortion ballot initiative that could appear on the November 2024 ballot earlier this week. Hobbs signed a petition form for the “Arizona Abortion Access Act,” which would guarantee the right to abortion in the state constitution by making abortion a “fundamental right” until fetal viability.
The ballot initiative is being spearheaded by Arizona for Abortion Access, which is a coalition of abortion rights advocates who began collecting signatures for the initiative in September. As previously reported by The Messenger, the initiative will need to collect 383,923 valid voter signatures by next July in order to make the 2024 ballot.
Read the full article. If the measure makes the ballot, it will surely boost turnout by Democrats.
