Trump doubled down on calling Hezbollah smart by posting an article to Truth Social titled, Hezbollah is Smart— And So is Trump. Hezbollah has been on the State Department’s designated terror list since 1997. The article also called Trump’s critics, “not so smart.” Trump’s reposted article implies Hezbollah is smarter that his own political opposition. However, the article is gets worse as we move beyond the title.
Trump’s reposted article then called dictators including Hitler, “smart.” “Not one of them” were “dumb,” wrote Jeffrey Lord, the author. Lord argued that these dictators, including Hitler, “has serious smarts” in order to rise to power “through constant thought, maneuvering, manipulating” and using “seriously brutal tactics.” Trump, Hitler, and Hezbollah are all “smart,” but his political opposition isn’t? That’s the argument Trump is amplifying.
