Santos Claims He’s “Anyone But Scalise” For Speaker

The Messenger reports:

Rep. George Santos, R-N.Y., on Wednesday said he is frustrated that Rep. Steve Scalise, R-La., has not reached out to him, adding that he plans to vote for “anyone but Scalise” to be the next Speaker of the House.

“I’ve made my decision and after 10 months and having had 0 contact or outreach from him, I’ve come to the conclusion that my VOTE doesn’t matter to him,” Santos said in a post on X. “We need a Speaker that leads by including every single member of the team not just some.”

Former President Donald Trump is not expected to help the Louisiana Republican in his quest to obtain votes and three Republicans — other than Santos — have already said they do not plan on voting for Scalise.

Marjorie Taylor Greene has said that she won’t support Scalise because he has cancer and Nancy Mace has said that she can’t support Scalise due to his history with former KKK Grand Wizard David Duke. The other Republican mentioned above appears to be Max Miller. Scalise needs 217 votes to assume the speakership.
