NBC News reports:
Rep. Jamaal Bowman, D-N.Y., has been criminally charged with a misdemeanor in connection with pulling a fire alarm in a congressional building on Capitol Hill last month.
The charge — one misdemeanor count of falsely pulling a fire alarm — carries a maximum penalty of six months in jail. Bowman has been ordered to appear in D.C. Superior Court on Thursday morning for his arraignment, according to court documents.
His office did not immediately respond to a request for comment Wednesday afternoon. The charge comes after the alarm was set off Sept. 30 in the Cannon office building as Republican lawmakers sought to kickoff a vote on a spending measure to keep the government open.
Read the full article. Bowman has said that he was confused and thought that pulling the fire alarm would open an exit door.
