Politico reports:
Tom Emmer secured the most votes on a secret ballot in his fight for the speakership, though he’s still short the necessary votes for a nomination on the floor.
The conference will now head into another vote, though Rep. Pete Sessions (R-Texas) is now out of the race, as he received the lowest number of votes.
House Republicans will keep voting by secret ballot until a candidate receives a simple majority of the conference. If candidates continue to only win by pluralities, the contender with the lowest numbers will be eliminated after each vote.
