The New York Daily News reports:
Netflix is reportedly planning to raise prices once the months-long actors’ strike is resolved.
The price hike is expected to come “a few months” after the SAG-AFTRA strike is settled and most productions resume, according to the Wall Street Journal. The increase would occur in “several markets globally” — starting with the U.S. and Canada — for its ad-free plans.
The report comes just a few months after Netflix stopped offering its cheapest, ad-free subscription — the $9.99/month Basic plan — to drive new U.S. users to its $6.99 ad-supported plan and the pricier, ad-free $15.49/month Standard plan or $19.99/month Premium plan. The company also started cracking down on password-sharing in May.
