Trump Files Motion Seeking To Dismiss Georgia Case

Former President Donald Trump’s attorneys filed court papers Monday that marked his first attempt to get charges against him dismissed in the Georgia election interference case. Trump’s attorneys adopted a motion filed by lawyers for Kenneth Chesebro, who allegedly crafted the legal theory behind the so-called fake electors scheme.

Chesebro last week asked Fulton County Superior Court Judge Scott McAfee to dismiss the case against him, arguing that the U.S. Constitution’s Supremacy Clause barred states from prosecuting or otherwise regulating conduct “that was entirely within the ambit of federal authority.”
