Via press release from Family Research Council National Director of Community Impact and pastor Mark Harris:
Mark Harris launched his campaign today for the Republican nomination for Congress in North Carolina’s 8th congressional district. This decision follows Congressman Dan Bishop’s announcement to run for Attorney General.
Mark stated: “After seeing first hand the manufactured scandal that resulted in the Democrat controlled State Board of Elections not certifying our victory in 2018, I am one of the few people who truly understands the extremes Democrats will go to in order to advance their woke, leftist agenda.
“I fully expect a flurry of lies and rumors from both Democrats and some from my own party. But as these political games play out, I’m focused on the glaring realities of today: the constant climb of of daily living costs, a southern border that remains open, and hardworking Americans suffering from Bidenomics.
“As a pastor, father, and grandfather, I’m dedicated to prioritizing these challenges for the sake of our nation.”
From a 2019 New York Times report:
North Carolina officials on Thursday ordered a new contest in the Ninth Congressional District after the Republican candidate, confronted by evidence that his campaign had financed an illegal voter-turnout effort, called for a new election.
The unanimous ruling by the five-member Board of Elections was a startling — and, for Republicans, embarrassing — conclusion to a case that has convulsed North Carolina since November.
And it followed testimony that outlined how a political operative had orchestrated an absentee ballot scheme to try to sway the race in favor of Mark Harris, the Republican candidate. It is now the single undecided House contest in last year’s midterms.
I’ve stood up against the extreme tactics of the radical left and I’m ready to do so again. That’s why today, I’m announcing my run for Congress. #ncpol pic.twitter.com/u0mrtdMdka

Mark Harris was seconds – if that – from perjuring himself in the State Board of Elections hearing into ballot fraud in his race when his lawyer pulled him off the stand. Then he came back and admitted a new election was needed. His revisionist history now is just that. #ncpol https://t.co/RX3yZCYXSw
