The Maryland Daily Record reports:
President Joe Biden said Wednesday that he plans to nominate former Maryland Gov. Martin O’Malley to be commissioner of the Social Security Administration.
“Governor O’Malley is a lifelong public servant who has spent his career making government more accessible and transparent, while keeping the American people at the heart of his work,” Biden said in a statement.
The Social Security Administration is headquartered in Woodlawn, just outside Baltimore. O’Malley was the governor of Maryland from 2007 to 2015, after serving two terms as the mayor of Baltimore. He ran unsuccessfully for the Democratic nomination for president in 2016.
