Anti-Gay Coach Arrested, Drove Nearly 3X DUI Limit

The New York Times reports:

Bob Huggins, the men’s basketball coach at West Virginia, was arrested in Pittsburgh on Friday and charged with driving under the influence. According to a post on the police department’s public safety site, officers in Pittsburgh found Huggins blocking traffic in a black S.U.V. just before 8:30 p.m. Huggins’s door was open, and the car had “a flat and shredded tire.”

The police instructed Huggins to move his vehicle off the road, which he struggled to do. Police found a white bag full of empty beer cans on the floor of Huggins’s car. When the police asked Huggins where he was, he replied “Columbus,” which the officers took to mean that he thought he was in Ohio. Huggins blew a 0.210 on the breathalyzer, nearly three times the legal blood-alcohol limit.

As the photo above may have reminded you, last month Huggins was hit with $1 million annual salary reduction after twice referring to a rival school’s fans as “Catholic fags” during a radio interview.

As he fought to keep his job, Huggins apologized, saying that he’d used “a completely insensitive and abhorrent phrase that there is simply no excuse for.”

Let’s see if he keeps his job this time.
