Houston’s ABC affiliate reports:
The man accused of shooting and killing five of his neighbors, including a 3rd grader, in a San Jacinto County home is now in custody, according to officials. The arrest came shortly after officials announced an increased reward for information that led to Francisco Oropesa’s arrest.
San Jacinto County Sheriff Greg Capers said the 38-year-old was apprehended by the U.S. Marshals, Texas DPS, and the U.S. Border Patrol at about 6:15 p.m. after investigators received a tip call at about 5:15 p.m. regarding a possible location.
According to officials, he was found inside a home, hiding in a closet underneath a pile of laundry. Officials said that Oropesa would be charged with five counts of murder and held on a $5 million bond.
