Charleston’s ABC affiliate reports:
Charleston County Democrats released a statement Sunday demanding an apology and retraction from Gov. Henry McMaster for comments made during a South Carolina Republican convention Saturday.
According to The State reporter Joseph Bustos, McMaster said: “I look forward to the day that democrats are so rare, we have to hunt them with dogs.” Bustos was live-tweeting the Saturday event, where republicans gathered to pick a state party chairman. He said this is not the first time McMaster has used the phrase.
“If the Governor is unwilling to apologize and retract his comments, we ask the South Carolina State Law Enforcement Division (SLED) to open an investigation into this threat and incitement of political violence,” said Charleston County Democratic Party chairman Sam Skardon.

This is today’s GOP folks. This ain’t shocking. It simply illustrates who we are dealing with as we fight to protect our Democracy.
Bottomline… Don’t agonize. Educate, register, mobilize, protect and then vote them out! https://t.co/b0XXuGU9XO

So @NikkiHaley & @SenatorTimScott … McMaster is your friend… y’all looking forward to this as well?!
Given the sordid history of people being hunted down in the South … you would think a Governor in ‘23 would know better.. right?! ??

These words from GOP leadership here in South Carolina is bone chilling to hear, and not in any kind of good way.
Will we hear a repudiation of this language from Haley, Scott, or any of the other GOP declared Presidential candidates? https://t.co/RFWw52TgJN
