The Tennessean reports:
Ten days after a shooter unloaded 152 rounds inside a Nashville school and killed six people, Tennessee House Republicans on Thursday began attempts to expel from the General Assembly three Democratic lawmakers for breaking House rules and mounting a gun reform protest on the chamber’s floor.
The House expelled Reps. Justin Jones, D-Nashville, on a 72-25 vote but failed to achieve the two-thirds majority needed to kick Rep. Gloria Johnson, D-Knoxville, out of the House. The effort to expel Johnson failed on a 65-30 vote. Chants of “Gloria! Gloria!” rang out in the House chamber following the vote.
The action came after hours of fiery deliberations and the fate of Rep. Justin Pearson, D-Memphis, remained ongoing. “What is happening here today is a farce of democracy,” Jones said at the beginning of his 20-minute defense, after gazing up at a packed gallery holding signs in his defense.

Three kids and three officials gunned down in yet another mass shooting.
And what are GOP officials focused on?
Punishing lawmakers who joined thousands of peaceful protesters calling for action.
It’s shocking, undemocratic, and without precedent. https://t.co/NB9gSdFI9h

NO expulsion for Rep. Gloria Johnson (D), the second of the “Tennessee Three” to face a vote.
Cheers went up as the 65-30 vote to expel @VoteGloriaJ from the state House failed to get support from two-thirds of the chamber. State Rep. @brotherjones_ (D) was expelled earlier. pic.twitter.com/yfRrluCMAm
