SNL’s Donald Trump Crashes The Last Supper [VIDEO]

The New York Daily News reports:

NBC’s “Saturday Night Live” opened its latest episode with an Easter-themed sketch that had former President Donald Trump crashing The Last Supper and comparing his recent indictment to the persecution of Jesus.

“Alas, one of you will betray me,” said Jesus, played by Mikey Day. “It is foretold. And though I have committed no crime, I will be arrested, tried, and found guilty.” Before Day can continue, SNL cast member James Austin Johnson-as-Trump entered the fray to ask viewers if the plight of the son of God sounded familiar.

“A famous, wonderful man arrested for no reason at all,” Johnson as Trump said, adding, “If you haven’t put it together folks, I’m comparing myself to Jesus, again.”

USA Today reports:

Johnson as Trump went on to draw more parallels between himself and Jesus, including likening his fraught relationship with Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis to the betrayal of Jesus by Judas.

“Ron DeSantis came to me, tears in his eyes, he said, ‘Help me, Mr. Trump, I’m going to lose my election,’ ” Johnson said. “So I very generously pretended to like him, and then he did a Judas, and now he can’t even get the gays out of Disney World.”

One of SNL’s better cold openings.
