The New York Times reports:
Legislators in Montana are expected to vote Wednesday on whether to censure or discipline the state’s only transgender lawmaker, after an escalating standoff over her ability to speak in the House of Representatives led to heated protests and arrests on Monday and the abrupt cancellation of Tuesday’s session.
The lawmaker, Representative Zooey Zephyr, shared a letter from the House’s Republican leaders Tuesday night, providing her notice that a motion would be made to decide if she had violated House rules and “whether to impose disciplinary consequences.” The letter also said the session would be closed to the public, but available to watch online.
“I have been informed that during tomorrow’s floor session, there will be a motion to either censure or expel me,” Ms. Zephyr said on Twitter. “I’ve also been told I’ll get a chance to speak.”
