The Orlando Sentinel reports:
Gov. Ron DeSantis asked Florida’s chief inspector general on Monday to look into agreements the Reedy Creek Improvement District made with Disney just before the state takeover. DeSantis requested a “thorough review and investigation” in a letter Monday to Melinda Miguel, Florida’s chief inspector general.
Last week, DeSantis’ new hand-picked board disclosed that previous board members had approved a development agreement and restrictive covenants that limited their authority to manage Disney’s future growth in Florida.
“These collusive and self-dealing arrangements aim to nullify the recently passed legislation, undercut Florida’s legislative process and defy the will of Floridians,” DeSantis wrote. “Any legal or ethical violations should be referred to the proper authorities.”
