Anti-Vax “Let’s Go Brandon” Former State Rep Defeats Indicted QAnon Clerk To Become Colorado GOP Chair

The Associated Press reports:

The Colorado Republican Party selected a combative former state representative who promised to be a “wartime” leader as its new chairman, joining several other state GOPs this year that have elected far-right figures and election conspiracy theorists to their top posts.

The move in Colorado comes as the party totters on the brink of political irrelevance in a state moving swiftly to the left.

Former State Rep. Dave Williams, who unsuccessfully tried to insert the phrase “Let’s Go Brandon” into his name on the party’s primary ballot last year and insists — incorrectly — that former President Donald Trump won the 2020 election, was selected by the party’s executive committee out of a seven-person field.

Read the full article. Williams has been endorsed by local anti-vax groups. He first appeared on JMG in 2018 when he declared that immigrants are inherently violent. In 2017, he authored a vague bill that would have made it a felony to “render assistance to illegal aliens.”

My April 2022 report on his lawsuit to have “Let’s Go Brandon” listed by his name on the ballot is here.

Of note, Williams was endorsed by indicted former county clerk Tina Peters after she failed to advance in the third round of balloting. Peters faces seven felony charges and was convicted earlier this month of a misdemeanor.
