TODAY: Special Election For Virginia US House Seat

NPR reports:

Voters in Richmond and Southside Virginia are heading to the polls Tuesday to select a new congressional representative in a race that could narrow Republicans’ control of the U.S. House of Representatives to only nine seats.

State Sen. Jennifer McClellan (D–Richmond) is the heavy favorite against the Rev. Leon Benjamin Sr. in Virginia’s blue-leaning 4th Congressional District.

In an interview flagged today by Right Wing Watch, Benjamin declares his support for so-called Seven Mountains Dominionism, which claims that God has ordered Christians to control seven aspects of public life: family, religion, education, media, entertainment, business, and government.

Benjamin, who runs an ex-gay torture ministry, has claimed that the 2020 presidential election was “stolen by China and many other communistic nations.”

Benjamin first appeared on JMG in September 2022 for the “binding demons, witches, and warlocks” bit of batshittery seen in the video below.
