Florida Fines TV Station Over Vax Proof Rule For Debate

The Orlando Sentinel reports:

The Florida Department of Health fined TV station WESH-Channel 2 in Orlando $10,000 for barring a GOP candidate and a staffer from a debate because of the station’s COVID-19 vaccine requirement. The agency sent a letter to the station on Monday informing it of the fine.

According to the DOH, GOP congressional candidate Scotty Moore and a campaign staffer were denied entry by the television station in September to a debate against U.S. Rep. Darren Soto, D-Kissimmee, because they did not show proof of vaccination. The debate was ultimately canceled.

The ban on vaccine mandates, first issued in an executive order and later codified into law by the Republican-led Legislature, was the beginning of Gov. Ron DeSantis’ political transformation from traveling the state to boost vaccines in early 2021 to one of the foremost anti-vax politicians today.
