CHATTER AWAY: Overnight Open Thread

For the first time in its storied history, the Tony Awards will take place next year in Washington Heights. The surprise announcement happened Tuesday morning, where organizers announced the 2023 award show for the best of Broadway would take place in the United Palace Theatre.

The Tony Awards are generally hosted in Times Square or the Theatre District, but the venue does change from year to year.

The United Palace Theatre opened in 1930 and currently has 3,400 seats. It is also the home theater of Broadway superstar Lin-Manuel Miranda, who grew up in Washington Heights and played a leading part in renovating and reopening the venue.
