USA Today reports:
The House voted Thursday to approve historic legislation that will federally protect same-sex and interracial marriage rights. Passage of the bill moves it to President Joe Biden who is expected to sign it into law.
The Respect for Marriage Act, passed by the Senate last week, guarantees federal recognition of any marriage between two people if it was valid in the state where they were married.
It also requires states to accept the legitimacy of a valid marriage performed elsewhere, but does not require any state to issue a marriage license contrary to its own law.

It appears that only eight Republicans reversed their initial “yes” votes despite weeks of screaming pressure from anti-LGBTQ hate groups. One of those eight apparently changed his vote to “present.”
The House is voting to codify same-sex & interracial marriage. So far, some interesting flips from the vote earlier this year:
GOP Reps. Bentz, Diaz Balart, Mast, Van Drew are now against the bill, while Dem O’Halleran & GOP Herrera Beutler are for it https://t.co/qFTTXMxyhO

Rep. Bob Good (R-Liberty University) just now in House debate on legislation to protect same-sex and interracial marriage:

More Bob Good: “This bill would… ensure that the marriage laws in the most liberal states, irrespective of how radical they might become in the future- think polygamy, beastiality, child marriage, or whatever! – must be legally recognized in all states.” pic.twitter.com/DgLbIV3lEn

After more than a decade of work, my #RespectForMarriageAct has finally passed Congress. Repealing the discriminatory Defense of Marriage Act and upholding same sex couples right to equal protection under the law has been a moral imperative of mine.
