Wyden Vows “Careful Review” Of Twitter’s Investors

Democratic Sen. Ron Wyden said Elon Musk’s $44 billion purchase of Twitter needs a “careful review” by Congress, with a particular focus on the Saudi government’s large investment in the deal.

“I’m on the Intelligence Committee. I’m chair of the Finance Committee. I’m not taking anything off the table right now,” Wyden (D-Ore.) said in an interview on Tuesday. Wyden said he’s most concerned with the investment from Saudi Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal and his Kingdom Holding Company.

“He seems to have a close relationship with the Saudis and their leadership,” Wyden said. The Saudis “certainly have engaged in some reprehensible practices and I think the Musk situation involves a very careful review.”
