Fifth GOP Rep Is “Hard No” On McCarthy As Speaker

Congress Minutes reports:

Kevin McCarthy’s Thanksgiving holiday has been far from relaxing, as his bid for speakership gets rockier by the day.

Another House Freedom Caucus member announced he would not vote for the GOP leader for speaker next term, with Rep. Ralph Norman (R-S.C.) telling POLITICO in an interview on Tuesday that he will be another vote against McCarthy.

Hard no: Norman said he agreed he is a “hard” no vote against the California Republican, dismissing that he will either vote present or not attend the speakership vote early next year. Norman’s comments bring the tally of members threatening to vote against McCarthy to five.

Norman is most infamous here for once “joking” that Ruth Bader Ginsburg was so old, she was raped by Abraham Lincoln.

Last year one day after Norman sued Pelosi over the House mask mandate, he became sick with something.

Norman last appeared here two weeks ago when he claimed that Obama is secretly running the country.

Before that he appeared here when he produced a loaded .38 Smith & Wesson handgun and placed it on the table during a meeting with gun control activists Moms Demand Action. South Carolina’s GOP attorney general refused to file charges for menacing.

Norman voted against certifying the 2020 election, against gold medals for Capitol Police officers, and against the creation of the Juneteenth holiday.
