Fansided reports:
Yankees fans welcomed Texas senator Ted Cruz to New York with some NSFW gestures during Game 4 of the ALCS against the Astros. Crowds in New York aren’t known for being particularly friendly toward opposing fans.
When one of those fans is a controversial political figure rooting for the opposing team, you can bet they’re going to get an earful. That’s what happened to Texas senator Ted Cruz, who turned up to Game 4 of the ALCS in New York and got a NSFW serenade from Yankees fans.
The New York Post reports:
Spectators flipped the bird at the Texas senator as he waved to a sea of fans in the bleachers of the Bronx stadium, according to a photo of the interaction posted to Twitter.
Cruz was at Yankee Stadium to cheer on the Astros and posted a grinning selfie of himself in seats behind home plate earlier in the night.
Cruz’s photo post garnered less than 3,000 likes, while the crude salute pic raked in more than 50,000 likes and united baseball fans from teams known to be bitter rivals in the comments.
