REPORT: Boris Johnson Likely To Seek Old Job Back

The Telegraph reports:

Boris Johnson is expected to stand in the Tory leadership contest to replace his successor Liz Truss, The Telegraph understands. Mr Johnson was forced out of No 10 on September 6 this year but he is understood to now be taking soundings about trying to get his old job back.

The battle to replace Ms Truss is now getting underway after she announced at lunchtime that she is resigning after concluding that she “cannot deliver the mandate on which I was elected by the Conservative Party”.

Johnson should not be allowed to return to office while still under investigation for potentially lying to Parliament, a veteran Tory MP has said. Sir Roger Gale said: “We need to remember that Mr Johnson is still under investigation by the Privileges Committee for potentially misleading the House.
