Las Vegas’s NBC affiliate reports:
A former photography teacher convicted of forcing a student to pose nude for photos will spend the next five years in prison. The sentence was handed down by Judge Jacqueline Stam. Jeffrey Whiston, 44, was arrested in mid-April after the girl told friends about what happened. The student told investigators she agreed to meet the then-Chiawana High School teacher for a free photo shoot under the guise of “senior pictures.”
Whiston, who also is a pastor at a Burbank church, appeared to help run a Facebook page that photographs Chiawana athletics events. Photos from Chiawana Sports dating back to fall 2017 bear his name on the watermark. Whiston, who was fired from the school district just under 17 weeks after the incident, received the maximum sentence under state sentencing guidelines. He will have to register as a sex offender when he’s released.
