Cultist Election Denier Wins MA GOP Gov Primary

Boston’s ABC affiliate reports:

Massachusetts Attorney General Maura Haley will face former State Rep. Geoff Diehl, who has the endorsement of former President Donald Trump, in November’s general election for governor, according to The Associated Press.

Incumbent Massachusetts Gov. Charlie Baker, a Republican, announced in December 2021 that he and Lt. Gov. Karyn Polito would not be seeking a third term.

Healey was elected Massachusetts attorney general as a first-time candidate in November 2014, becoming the first openly gay AG in the country. In her two terms as attorney general, she has focused on safeguarding civil rights, holding bad actors accountable and building community.

PBS NewsHour reports:

Diehl, the favorite among state Republican Party delegates in Massachusetts, has ties to Trump stretching to 2016, when he served as co-chair for Trump’s presidential campaign in the state. Diehl has also opposed COVID-19 protocols and hailed the Supreme Court ruling overturning Roe v. Wade.

Diehl has come to embrace Trump’s false claims that he won the 2020 election. Diehl said last year that he didn’t think it was a “stolen election” but later said the election was rigged, despite dozens of courts, local officials and Trump’s own attorney general saying the vote was legitimate.
