Shitposting DeSantis Spox Quits For Campaign Position

Mediaite reports:

The flame-throwing press secretary for Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) resigned on Friday to work on the governor’s re-election campaign. After 15 months in DeSantis’ office, Christina Pushaw will be the campaign’s director of rapid response.

During her tenure, Pushaw was known for being combative with mainstream media outlets. On Wednesday, Pushaw blasted the Associated Press for not publishing a statement of hers in full. She called on reporter David Klepper to lose her number.

Florida Politics reports:

The Florida Standard, a conservative new media outlet, was the first to report Pushaw’s shuffle and published her resignation letter, which Pushaw sent to Chief of Staff James Uthmeier and Director of Administration Dawn Hanson on Friday.

Pushaw, the most prominent gubernatorial Press Secretary in the nation, has sparked controversy at times. She has been accused of writing antisemitic tweets and scrutinized for her past work in Eastern Europe.

Pushaw also was suspended from Twitter for 12 hours for violating the platform’s user guidelines after dogging an Associated Press reporter for his story pointing out that a DeSantis donor was also an investor in a leading COVID-19 treatment the Governor was promoting.

Politico reports:

Pushaw has received national attention for her aggressive style that is unorthodox for a taxpayer-funded press secretary. She used the position to regularly pick public fights with reporters on social media, amplify right-wing media outlets and conservative personalities and attack individuals who oppose or challenge DeSantis.

She has increasingly been the subject of national media profiles and has helped put DeSantis as on the vanguard of the new Republican Party’s sidestepping mainstream media outlets, including last month blocking most non right-wing outlets from covering the Republican Party of Florida’s annual convention in Hollywood, Fla..

“It has come to my attention that some liberal media activists are mad because they aren’t allowed into #SunshineSummit this weekend,” Pushaw tweeted at the time. “My message to them is to try crying about it.”

The Florida Standard, you’ll be shocked to learn, is a recently launched far-right cultist outlet already known for promoting batshittery.

In June 2022, Pushaw was forced to register as a foreign agent for the nation of Georgia.

Her Twitter habits include mockingly retweeting someone in order to send the cultist horde after her target, who she then immediately blocks.

Which is what she did to me early this year.
