Denver’s NBC affiliate reports:
The chair of Mesa County’s GOP says indicted Mesa County Court Clerk Tina Peters isn’t listening to his call for her to step down.
Peters faces accusations she tampered with election results. That means she can’t work at the county in her current elected position. But Peters is still on the taxpayer payroll at $93,000 a year, and the scandal has cost Mesa County taxpayers at least $1.3 million.
She ran for Secretary of State and lost in the June GOP primary. But Peters maintains the race was stolen from her. She filed for a state-wide recount and lost that, too. Mesa County GOP Chairman Kevin McCarney says Peters’ tactics about losing the election are hurting the party’s chances of winning races.

BREAKING: Mesa County GOP head says multiple people told him Clerk Tina Peters’ rep Sherronna Bishop, podcaster Joe Oltmann, and Stand for the Constitution members plotted to “storm the Clerks Office and destroy the Voting Machines,” in Facebook exchange with Bishop’s husband. pic.twitter.com/XYUlveycPj

The exchange came in a post Mesa County GOP Chair Kevin McCarney put on Facebook Friday night. He called for the Republican Peters to resign as clerk. Peters lost the GOP primary for secretary of state but has baselessly claimed fraud in the election. https://t.co/i9jKZ7hll0

What happens when your county clerk believes the Big Lie?
Well, in Tina Peters’ case, she copies voting machine hard drives, shares them at Mike Lindell’s “Cyber Symposium” and gets indicted on 7 felony charges. Oh, and she kicks a cop in a bagel shop.https://t.co/zUYPXprUjd
