Mediaite reports:
Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY) appears to be already gearing up for her next move in politics as she “repurposed” her campaign account as a Political Action Committee the morning after her GOP primary loss.
Punchbowl News reported that in the early morning on Wednesday, Cheney filed with the Federal Election Commission “to reorganize her campaign account – flush with $7 million as of the end of July – to be a leadership PAC called ‘The Great Task.’”
The launch of Cheney’s new PAC included a new website, which carried a distinct Abraham Lincoln theme. In an interview with NBC’s Savannah Guthrie on Wednesday morning, Cheney confirmed she is considering a run for president.
The Atlantic reports:
Cheney didn’t specify how, or where, she intends to continue her struggle against former President Donald Trump, after Harriet Hageman, the candidate Trump endorsed, routed her by more than two to one in the primary for Wyoming’s lone congressional seat. But Cheney dropped a big hint when she noted that the GOP’s Founding Father, Abraham Lincoln, lost elections for the House and Senate “before he won the most important election of all” by capturing the presidency.
In some ways, a Cheney 2024 presidential campaign would be unprecedented: There aren’t any clear examples of a candidate running a true kamikaze campaign. Cheney would have no trouble assembling the building blocks of a traditional presidential campaign. Her name identification is extremely high, for both her familial ties and her prominence as a Trump critic. Her potential fundraising base is strong.
Whatever happens, @Liz_Cheney has won the general election for dignity, a race in which virtually none of her GOP colleagues could even compete.

.@Liz_Cheney may have lost tonight, but she has earned a place amongst honorable Americans who put country over Party and political ambition.
History will lump most of her GOP colleagues together as forgettable cowards. She will be remembered and admired as a profile in courage.

I’ve worked for & advised countless elected officials – but no leader has inspired me more than @Liz_Cheney.
There’s an undeniable power to a woman standing athwart history – throwing it all on the line – to do what’s right for our country. Thank you, @Liz_Cheney.

Any piece about Liz Cheney mulling a presidential run needs to make clear the only way that would happen is as a third party spoiler. Any delusions of the GOP coming back from the abyss for her is fanfic.

ANALYSIS: Cheney has proved she is her father’s daughter. So it is no surprise the Wyoming Republican is not ruling out a presidential bid — even if to play a spoiler role, @BennettJohnT writes.https://t.co/ZkWn0a0PR8
